The Best Football Recipes

The one and only benefit of not playing in the Grey Cup is being able to bundle up and snack on your favourite football foods in front of the TV.

If that’s your plan too, here are a few ideas, certified by our very own experts.

1-The Classic approved by Jake Wieneke

Of course, chicken wings are a must-have when watching football. Especially those from La Cage! However, don’t hesitate to spice it up a bit by getting creative with sauces and dips. Buffalo, honey and garlic, Cajun and more! The options are endless.

2-The Classic revisited approved by Spencer Moore and Boseko Lokombo

If you’re anything like our players, wings might not be enough. Pizza is the perfect complement to satisfy your appetite. Boseko prefers his covered in pepperoni and sausages, but if you really want to impress your guests, take the time to explore all the options Pizza Pizza has to offer. Sweet Thai Chili, Chicken and Chipotle… Sounds tasty, right?

3-The Comforting Choice approved by Geno Lewis

OK, now, Hamburger Helper might not be the fanciest meal of them all, but boy does it taste like home. On Sunday, Geno Lewis will be making some Three Cheese Hamburger Helper topped off with his secret ingredients: shrimps and hot sauce! It’s OK, he said he was fine with sharing his secrets with fans.

4-Taco EveryDay approved by Najee Murray

Every time he watches football, Najee makes his own homemade tacos. E-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e. It’s basically Taco Tuesday four times a week in his world. He says the difference-maker is the Nacho Cheese shells he uses. If you can find some, make sure you get your hands on them. According to Najee, they will change your life.

5-The Decadent Nachos approved by Boris Bede

Boris Bede will allow himself a cheat meal on Sunday for the Grey Cup as he promises to chow down his go-to nachos. He tops them off with tons of cheese and chicken, but if you prefer having yours with ground meat, here’s a good recipe you can use.

6-The All-Star approved by Eric Deslauriers

It’s super simple to make and sure to please all your guests, including your vegetarian friends, the hot spinach dip served in a loaf of bread is absolutely succulent! Serve buttered croutons with it for an even more decadent experience.

7-The Most Outstanding Drink approved by everyone

A good ol’ Budweiser always does the trick, but for something a little edgier, try sangria. Red sangria, of course. Alouettes red. You can even add some sweetness to it by incorporating McAdams cider in your recipe!
