Like they did in 2021, the Alouettes will face the Blue Bombers in back-to-back weeks this season. Of course, Winnipeg has won each of the last two Grey Cups, so beating them is never easy.

The Als played the Bombers tough in Winnipeg back on Nov. 6 last season, but they came up short, 31-21. That night, Trevor Harris became the third different starting quarterback for the Alouettes. The veteran pivot finished the night 14 for 25 with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Unfortunately for Harris, a late-game pick by DeAundre Alford put the game to bed.

The Winnipeg defence was particularly impressive last season but running back William Stanback still managed to rush for over 100 yards (106 on 16 carries). It was the only time in 2021 that the Most Outstanding Player finalists went head-to-head, as Stanback played against quarterback Zach Collaros. The Blue Bombers quarterback passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

The following week, Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea was able to rest several key players, including Collaros, for the trip to Montreal.

On a rainy day at Percival Molson Stadium, Harris managed to throw for just 144 yards, but he had three touchdown passes in the Als’ 28-14 win. Bombers backup quarterback Sean McGuire was held to 149 yards passing, one touchdown and four interceptions.

Believe it or not, Harris didn’t have the longest completed pass for the Alouettes that day. Check out the arm on Geno Lewis:

Let’s not forget the magic the Alouettes were able to create against the Bombers at Percival Molson Stadium back in Sep. of 2019, too.

The Als were down 24 points in that game, but they managed to come all the way back to win it on a late Jake Wieneke touchdown grab.

These are the moments you live for as football fans. You want to see magic happen every time you come to the stadium and this group has shown that they can do just that.
