Absher is not a rookie anymore

Montreal, July 27, 2021 – With two games under the belt in 2019, receiver Dante Absher drew attention at the end of the season by catching long passes in his direction. This year, Absher seems to have matured. He is regularly targeted by the quarterbacks and he catches everything that is launched in his direction.

“The last 20 months have made me understand that I have talent. I believe much more in my abilities than in recent years,” says the Sterling, VA native. The athlete spent extra time in the gym to improve his fitness, and the results are impressive.

At the age of 27, he fully realized how lucky he is to play professional football, and he reflected deeply on his career.

“I am proud to wear this jersey and I fully realized how lucky I am. Making a living playing a sport is unique, and many people would like to be in our shoes,” he adds.

He is happy with what he sees on the field, and he tries to help or advise the younger guys.

“As I have gained confidence, I am not afraid to give tips to the rookies. Here, everyone helps each other. We are all united for the same cause, winning with the Alouettes.”

2021 promises to be exciting for the former Greenville State College Pioneer. Absher says he wants more responsibility on the field and he has delivered up to now at camp.

The barber of the Alouettes

It all started in 2019 when Dante cut his own hair. So impressed with his new cut, his teammates in the locker room wanted to know who his barber was… He remained silent on the subject even if he had been cutting hair since 2009.

However, a few days later, he noticed that some players had received sub-par haircuts from their barbers. He intervened to limit the damage. He started cutting his teammates’ hair and the message went through.

Since then, he cuts the hair of nearly 20 players, coaches and staff weekly. He has a schedule in his locker and people have to make an appointment ahead of time to get a booking after a practice. “I’ve always liked people and interactions, so cutting hair is natural for me.”

He said it

“I told her to have fun and remember why she was diving. She gave it all and I am very proud of her. We must enjoy precious moments that are not eternal.” – Alexandre Dupuis

(Following the diving competition of his significant other Meaghan Benfeito, who finished fourth Tuesday at the Tokyo Olympic Games).
