Alouettes sign quarterback Drew Willy

Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Monday that the club has added quarterback Drew Willy to the roster.

Willy (6’3″, 217 lbs.) signed a one-year deal with Montreal. The 30-year quarterback played for five years in the CFL, most recently with the Toronto Argonauts who acquired his rights last September. In 76 career-games in the CFL, including 37 starts, the former University of Buffalo quarterback completed 727 of his 1,085 passes for 8,539 yards and 39 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 128 times for 697 yards, adding six rushing touchdowns to his totals.

The Randolph, NJ native also played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. He took part in the Argonauts training camp earlier this month. Willy also was a member of the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and San Diego Chargers in the NFL.

Willy will join his new teammates on the field on Monday, as he will participate in his first practice in an Alouettes uniform.

The club also announced that it has added international defensive back Willy Dorcin to the practice roster and released national receiver Alex Charette.
