Alouettes add Mitchell and Johnny White to practice roster

MONTREAL – The Alouettes announced on Friday that the club has signed a pair of import players, cornerback Mitchell White and running back Johnny White to the team’s practice roster.

Mitchell White (5’11”, 185 lbs.) signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2013 after playing five seasons at Michigan State University from 2008 to 2012. The Livonia, MI, native appeared in 43 career games for Michigan State, tallying 26 tackles playing cornerback and safety for the Spartans. White recorded seven tackles in 13 games with the Spartans during his senior year in 2012 and saw the field primarily on special teams.

The 23-year-old was also a high-jumper for the Michigan State track-and-field team and competed at the Big Ten Championships. Mitchell’s identical twin brother Myles, is currently on the Green Bay Packers’ roster.

Johnny White (5’10”, 202 lbs.) was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round, 133rd Overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old played in 19 career games with the Bills and Green Bay Packers rushing for a combined 72 yards on 20 attempts in 2011 and 2012.

Collegiately, White racked up a team-high 720 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 130 carries during his senior year in 2010 with the University of North Carolina. He also had 24 receptions for 288 yards that year with the Tar Heels and notched his first career 100+ yard rushing game with 113 yards on 17 carries against Georgia Tech on September 18.

The club also announced it has released defensive ends Ameet Pall, Collins Ukwu, and Jerrell Harris as well as linebacker B.J. Scott.
