Montreal – Students at Lasalle Community Comprehensive High School are coming together for a good cause.

This past Tuesday, the Alouettes – as part of the team’s EnvironmentALS program in association with its CN Adopt an Alouette: On Point Leadership program – helped students at LCCHS sell reusable bottles during their respective lunch breaks as part of the school’s initiative to make their hallways and classrooms more environmentally friendly. Defensive end John Bowman and safety Steven Holness were on-hand to support the school’s cause, signing every water bottle sold.

“I think it’s a really cool idea,” said secondary one student Stefano Caucci. “It’s a great way to support our school and I really like how we get to have the bottles signed by the players!” The water bottle initiative is just one of the fundraisers the students have organized so far this school year.

Portions of the funds raised are being distributed to the LCCHS Green Group – a program designed to raise environmental awareness throughout the school.

“It was nice to see the kids participating in an event that helped raise environmental awareness and economical sustainability,” said Holness.

In addition to raising awareness for Earth Day, the school’s secondary five students are also raising funds to help finance their trip to Ecuador at the conclusion of the school year. Students who will be participating in the Ecuador trip will focus on building schools and shelters for the Ecuadorian population.

“I think it’s great, the students are getting the opportunity to raise funds for their trip,” said Matthew Albert, Lester B. Pearson liaison for Educational Success.
