Montreal – For the third consecutive season, your Montreal Alouettes are going to the Grey Cup.
Led by two touchdown passes by quarterback Anthony Calvillo and 163 rushing yards by Avon Cobourne, the Als dominated the Argonauts 48-17 and now await their opponent for the 98th Grey Cup in Edmonton.

The Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders will play this evening to decide the West Divisions representative.

All Units Go!
Healthy and rested following a bye into the Eastern Final, the Als put together a spectacular effort on offence, defence and special teams. Former Alouette Chad Owens was a non-factor as a kick returner, as the Als limited the league’s top returner to just 100 yards.

On Montreal’s side of the field, return-man Tim Maypray got the crowd going and shifted momentum in Montreal’s favour with an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter at Olympic Stadium.

With over 58,000 in attendance, Calvillo put forth one of his best performances of the 2010 campaign. The MOP nominee finished the matinee event with 334 yards and a completion percentage of 73.1.

Both of Calvillo’s touchdown passes found the hands of slotback Jamel Richardson, who was an absolute dynamo on the field today. Richardson hauled in five reception for 153 yards, the longest of which was a 53-yard catch in the first quarter.

On defence, Diamond Ferri backed up his words from earlier this week with five tackles and was buzzing by Toronto quarterback Cleo Lemon all afternoon. It was a tough game for Lemon, as the rookie quarterback was sacked five times and threw two interceptions.

John Bowman finished the game with two sacks to go along with his two tackles, while Chip Cox led all players with eight.

Edmonton Bound
With the win, the Als will play at the CFL finale next week in Edmonton for the third straight year, looking to hoist Governor General Earl Grey’s Cup for the seventh time in franchise history.

The Alouettes will play either the Saskatchewan Roughriders or the Calgary Stampeders next Sunday at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium for the Grey Cup. 6:30 pm – RDSHD, TSNHD, NRJ, CJAD
