Montreal, Dec. 8, 2006 – Montreal Alouettes’ Vice-President, General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp announced today that running back Andrew Hamilton, punter Mike Renaud and receiver Wayne Desmond have all signed contracts with the Alouettes.
Andrew Hamilton (6’, 200 lbs.) led the Quebec football conference in 2006 with 83 carries for 1,044 yards and five touchdowns. He set the Concordia single-game record with 221 rushing yards in the 2006 Shrine Bowl against McGill and was named the game’s most valuable player. Born in Montreal, Hamilton is 22.
Mike Renaud (6’3’’, 215 lbs.) was a Quebec All-Star in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and an All-Canadian in 2004 and 2005. He totalled 11,736 yards on 306 career punts for an average of 2,347 yards per season. The 23-year-old kicker from Ottawa also has experience at the receiver position.
Wayne Desmond (6’, 205 lbs.) caught 30 passes for gains of 406 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 92 yards on eight carries with the Ottawa Gee-Gee’s in 2006. He served as a back-up quarterback and completed 18 of 27 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown in 2006. The 27-year-old was born in Montreal.
