Defensive Line coach

With the Alouettes since the 2018 season, Howard is entering his second season as the team’s Defensive Line Coach. He was the Alouettes Linebackers Coach in 2017. In 2019, Howard’s teachings helped young Alouettes defensive linemen like Antonio Simmons and Bo Banner have success early on in their careers, all while allowing veteran John Bowman to keep racking up interesting numbers as he finished the season with 8 sacks and 46 defensive tackles.

Howard had spent three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers before coming to Montreal. Prior to joining the Bombers, the 54-year-old Bryan, TX native spent two seasons as the Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive line coach, helping the team win the Grey Cup in 2013. He also coached in the NCAA and NFL, notably with the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his 24 years of coaching experience, he was a defensive assistant with the St. Louis Rams when the team won Super Bowl XXXIV.
