MONTREAL – When TSN’s Engraved on a Nation series puts the spotlight on Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo tonight at 9:00 p.m. with The Kid from La Puente, it won’t be the first time the Alouettes make an appearance on primetime television.
And while episodes of 30 Rock and Jeopardy probably won’t tug on fans’ heartstrings quite like AC’s triumphant tale of overcoming the odds, here’s a look at some of the Alouettes’ other primetime appearances.
30 Rock
Episode 511: Mrs. Donaghy
On January 20, 2011, during the off-season of their most recent Grey Cup Championship, the Alouettes pulled off something no other CFL team has. A shout-out on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, from Canadian character Danny Baker. Forced to share a dressing room with co-star Jenna, tempers flare when she takes down his Montreal Alouettes poster, citing it’s tackiness. But “it’s signed by Marc Trestman!”
