“We will score a lot of points this season.” – S.J. Green

In less than 24 hours, the Alouettes will kick-off their regular season with a game against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg. (8:30 p.m. kick-off on RDS, TSN, 95.5 and CJAD) For S.J. Green, it marks his tenth year with the Alouettes.

Training camp and the pre-season are now both things of the past for the wide receiver. “They’re both over for me and I’ve already turned the page. We now have to devote all our attention to preparing for the game against Winnipeg on Friday. Even though we played them in the first pre-season game, it won’t be the same team with the same players. The outcome of pre-season games has no bearing on qualifying for the playoffs,” said Green.

Learning offensive coordinator Anthony Calvillo’s new playbook has been going very well for the offensive unit. “We’re very comfortable with Calvillo’s playbook. We were able to study it during mini-camp in April and during training camp in June. We are always in a learning process, but we have reached a point where we can execute the plays at a professional level,” said the Alouettes pass receiver.

The start of the regular season is synonymous with routine for S. J. Green. “Whether it is attending meetings, watching film or practicing on the field, we always get ready in the same manner before the next game,” explained Green.

According to Green, the Alouettes’ offense could inflict a lot of damage against other CFL teams. “I believe we will score a lot of points this season. We have players who can split opposing defenses and our quarterbacks are excellent at throwing the ball. It will be a very good season – we have high expectations,” said the Alouettes veteran.
