Acquired:
Gabe was acquired by the Lions from the Montreal Alouettes on December 13, 2017 in exchange for receiver Chris Williams. He had originally signed with Montreal as a free agent in 2014.

Highlights:
2014-2017 (MTL): Gabe appeared in 68 games over a four-year span with the Alouettes tallying 175 tackles and 32 sacks in that time. The Wyoming grad was a late signing by the Als in 2014, but wasted little time making the adjustment to the Canadian game racking up 34 tackles and nine sacks in his CFL debut season. The lofty numbers earned him Montreal’s nominee as Most Outstanding Rookie.

During his sophomore season in Montreal, Gabe recorded a career-high 54 defensive stops and 11 sacks over 18 games which included a career-best seven-tackle performance against the Lions in September and a three-sack outburst versus in Toronto in October.

Consistent and remarkably athletic, Gabe turned in another 18-game performance in 2016 which included 49 tackles and nine sacks. He followed up with 38 more defensive stops and three sacks in 15 games for Montreal in 2017.

College:
2007-2011: After red-shirting his freshman season in 2007, Gabe enjoyed a productive four-year, 50-game career at the University of Wyoming racking-up 128 individual tackles, 17 of which were for a loss along with 10 sacks. He departed the program with the fifth-best combined tackle total (individual & assisted) in school history with 368.

Personal:
Gabe graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Social Sciences. He lists getting an opportunity to play professional football in the CFL as his most memorable athletic moment to date. The Colorado native says that he enjoys putting on a pair of headphones and listening to Metallica before a big game to get his mind right. Gabe mentions Dick Butkus as a player he idolized as a kid. When his playing days are behind him, Gabe would like to pursue a career as a wildland firefighter.
