Océanne
Name
Océanne
How many seasons with the Alouettes?
It will be my second season this year!
Where did you grow up?
In Rougemont, Montérégie
Since what age have you been dancing?
Since I’m 3 years old
What is your dance background?
I started dance competition at the age of 9. I still dance, mainly commercial hip-hop and street jazz, but since I started studying musical theater, I’ve been getting back into jazz, ballet and tap.
I’ve been teaching hip-hop and street jazz for several years.
I was a member of the Montreal Alliance Dance Pak for the team’s first 3 seasons.
In 2022, I danced at the Bell Centre as part of comedian Mathieu Dufour’s show, available on Netflix. Finally, I joined the Montreal Alouettes dance team last year.
Your profession / Field of study?
I’ve been teaching singing and dancing for several years and I’m studying musical theater interpretation.
Your biggest dance role model and why?
That answer is likely to be different every year! Today, I’d say Tate McRae, because she brings together so well my two favorite arts, which bring so much to each other.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like it when it’s busy, but I also like to relax and see my friends.
Best advice you’ve received and from whom?
My mom once told me that, yes, the grass is always greener on the neighbor’s lawn, but we’re all someone’s neighbor. So there’s no point in comparing ourselves: someone wants to be like us, while we want to be like someone else.
What motivated you to audition for the dance team?
I loved my experience last year! I met people who are passionate about dance, with whom I shared wonderful moments filled with work, emotions and pleasure, which have now become beautiful memories. I can’t wait to experience it all again!
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I’m looking forward to each game, still not knowing what to expect because each one is different. I’m looking forward with great excitement to share them with my team and the fans, who can always be counted on to set the mood!
