Kally-Ann

Name
Kally-Ann
How many seasons with the Alouettes?
This will be my second year!
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Montreal and spent 2 years living with my parents in the Bahamas with my father’s family when I was still a baby. We then moved back to Canada in Montreal, where I grew up for the rest of my childhood and adolescence.
Since what age have you been dancing?
I’ve been dancing since the age of 3.
What is your dance background?
Since the age of 3, I’ve had the chance to learn several dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, dancehall and street jazz. I’ve also been taking part in dance competitions every year for the past 9 years. I was also part of the Just for Laughs gala in 2018 and took part in a show for Alzheimer’s in 2019. In 2024 I was lucky enough to dance in the opening number of the Mammoth 2024 gala. I love doing conventions and other types of dance training to help me grow as a dancer.
Your profession / Field of study?
I am a dance teacher. I teach both recreational and competitive levels and to all age groups. I also give extracurricular dance classes in elementary and high schools.
What do you do in your spare time?
I’m a very artistic person, so I love creating art, painting, designing sets for my choreographies, and working on other artistic projects for my friends and family. I enjoy spending time with my dogs, teaching them new tricks, and taking Pilates classes a few times a week. And finally, I really enjoy cleaning and organizing, both in my own home and for my family members!
Best advice you’ve received and from whom?
One of the best pieces of advice I’ve received came from my mom: no matter what others think of you, always stay true to yourself and don’t try to be someone you’re not. It might sound a bit cliché, but I tend to care a little too much about how I’m perceived, so this advice is something I try to remind myself of as often as possible.
What motivated you to audition for the dance team?
I love new challenges, especially those that involve my biggest passion—dance. Ever since I was little, I’ve seen the Alouettes on TV, and last year, I had the chance to be part of the experience, which gave me so many amazing moments throughout the year. I wanted to continue this great adventure and keep pushing myself as a dancer on the field!
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I can’t wait to get back on the field and perform, and to meet all the returning and new fans! I’m also really looking forward to the 2025 Grey Cup, because last year, it was truly one of my favorite moments of the season!
