Davis Alexander and Tyson Philpot Named CFL Top Performers of the Week
Montreal, August 5, 2026 – Quarterback Davis Alexander (second this week) and wide receiver Tyson Philpot (third this week) have been named among the Canadian Football League (CFL) Top Performers for Week 9.

Alexander earns the honour for the fourth time this season after previously being recognized in Weeks 2, 4, and 7. Philpot is also no stranger to the weekly distinction, having been selected in Weeks 2, 4, and 6.
The quarterback surpassed the 400-yard passing mark for the third time this season, completing 22 of 30 passes for 420 yards and three touchdown passes. He helped lead his team to a 34-13 victory over the Ottawa REDBLACKS on Friday.
Outside of his games over 400 yards, the Portland State University product has also recorded four games with more than 300 passing yards this season.
Alexander leads the CFL with 2,788 passing yards and ranks among the league leaders with 14 touchdown passes.
Philpot, meanwhile, caught nine passes for 184 yards. He became the fastest Canadian receiver in CFL history to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark, accomplishing the feat in just eight games. Only three players have ever reached the milestone that quickly.
The Canadian receiver has now recorded his fifth 100-yard game of the season. He currently leads the CFL with 64 receptions and 1,023 receiving yards. The Delta, B.C., native also ranks among the league leaders with four receiving touchdowns.
Players were chosen by a panel composed of representatives from the CFL’s Football Operations, Player and Game Statistics, and Content departments.
