Preview: Alouettes return home to host Redblacks on Sunday
The Montreal Alouettes (2-1-0) will be looking to bounce back at home on Sunday when they take on the Ottawa Redblacks (0-2-0) at Percival Molson Stadium. This will be the first of three matchups between these two teams.
Here’s what you need to know:
Tyrice Beverette back after missing Week 3
All-CFL linebacker Tyrice Beverette (neck) will be back after missing last week’s game against the Elks due to injury. He also exited the home opener against Toronto the week before.
“It was very frustrating (to miss last week’s game),” Beverette said on Friday. “I haven’t missed a game in five years so just to watch it from that angle and that view is different for me. To be back this week helps me cherish the game of football.
“Allowing that many points is not our standard. Our standard is 17 points allowed. We need to get back to that starting this week.”
The 31-year-old has six tackles and one quarterback sack in 2026. He’s registered at least 83 tackles in each of his last three seasons.
Stevie Scott III returns
Running back Stevie Scott III will make his 2026 debut for the Als. He missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old ran for 418 yards and one touchdown in 10 games last season. He was also an integral part of the Als’ run to the Grey Cup.
Scott III and Travis Theis make up arguably the best running back duo in the CFL.
Two new starting corners
Kabion Ento and Lorenzo Burns both suffered injuries in Edmonton last week, and both will be out of the lineup on Sunday. Look for second-year defensive back Don Callis and rookie Faion Hicks to make their first career CFL starts. Gemon Green could also see some time in the secondary.
Callis played four regular-season games in 2025, and he dressed on special teams for the Grey Cup game in Winnipeg last November.
Hicks was released after training camp but was re-signed after Burns and Ento were injured last week. The 28-year-old was a seventh-round pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2022 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Seattle Seahawks and the Birmingham Stallions (UFL).
Green was added to the practice squad after training camp. The former Michigan Wolverine spent time in the NFL with the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers before suiting up for the Michigan Panthers in the UFL.
“There’s a reason they’re here,” head coach Jason Maas said of the young defensive backs. “We’ve had training camps with them. Callis has played quite a few games for us in those positions. Obviously, last week he stepped right in and didn’t miss a beat. Green is here and so is Faion. They’ll get the job done if called upon.”
Football Canada at Percival Molson
The half-time show on Sunday will feature the Canadian Men’s National Flag Football team. They’ll play a scrimmage during the break.
Former Alouettes Marc-Antoine Dequoy and Maxym Lavallee are on Canada’s roster as well as former NFL tight end Antony Auclair.
The Canadian men will be looking to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where flag football will be featured for the first time.
Paul Lapolice, who is the head coach, will be on-site as well, as he’ll be calling the Alouettes and Redblacks for TSN.
