Five reasons to attend the Videotron home opener
The Montreal Alouettes are back at Percival Molson Stadium for the first time since last November’s East Division Semi-Final victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
For the second year in a row, the Als will host the Toronto Argonauts in the home opener presented by Videotron. Not only did the Als beat the Argos in that game last year, but they’ve also won each of the last four home openers.
Here are five reasons why you should attend Friday’s game!
1 – A rivalry that’s tough to beat:
Anytime Montreal and Toronto go head-to-head in any sport, it’s worth watching. This will be the only matchup between these two teams at Percival Molson Stadium in 2026. The next time they go head-to-head will be in the final week of the season at BMO Field.
Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander will look to extend his CFL record, as he aims to improve to 13-0 as a starter to begin a career.
Argos pivot Chad Kelly will make his first start since suffering a gruesome leg injury in the 2024 East Division Final at Molson Stadium.
The Alouettes were the only team in the East to register a victory in Week 1. The Argonauts didn’t play, as they opened the season with a bye week.
2 – RAFFY to perform on the Loto Quebec Stage
RAFFY will perform on the Loto Quebec stage before the game and at halftime.
They’re a local pop-rock band that began in 2008 as a cover group before evolving into an original music act led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Carolyne “Raffy” Leblanc. The band gained widespread recognition in 2011 as MusiquePlus’s official HouseBand and broke through with the hit single “Folle de toi” and their debut album Le Faux est à la mode. Since then, RAFFY has released multiple successful albums, performed at major events and Disney’s EPCOT, and built a reputation for energetic live shows and a strong presence on the Canadian francophone music scene.

3 – $5 Beers in the Biergarden
During every Friday night home game, fans will be able to purchase beers for $5 in the Biergarden as soon as the stadium doors open at 5:30 p.m. and until supplies last. This promotion is on 355 ml cans of Bud and Bud Light.
4 – Focus on two local alumni
Alouettes fans will be pleased to know that two former Quebec-born stars will be front-and-center on Friday night.
Former offensive lineman and coach Luc Brodeur-Jourdain, who is now a football analyst on 99,5 Montreal’s French radio broadcasts of Alouettes games, will sing the national anthem.
Marc-Antoine Dequoy, who announced his retirement over the winter, will open the on-field cage prior to the game and he’ll be honoured during the first television timeout of the night.
Both contributed to the Alouettes’ most recent Grey Cup victory in 2023.
5 – Try Geoff Cantin-Arku’s new Wrap:
Earlier this week, the Als and Le Porc du Quebec asked fans to vote for a new item that would be sold in stadium on game days throughout the season. Geoff Cantin-Arku’s Asian pork wrap went up against Davis Alexander’s pulled pork burger and Tyrice Beverette’s pulled pork nachos, and it’s Cantin-Arku’s wrap that came out on top.
The tasty wrap can be purchased at concession stands in sections H1 – N1 – T1 – W1- X2 as soon as Friday night!
