Receiver Terique Owens joins Alouettes

Montreal, January 19, 2026 – The Montreal Alouettes announced today the signing of American wide receiver Terique Owens for two years (2026-2027). He is the son of Pro Football Hall-of-fame receiver Terrell Owens. The team also signed American wide receiver/kick returner Phillip Brooks.

Owens (6’3″, 200 lb) played two years for the Florida Atlantic University Owls (2019–20) and three seasons with Missouri State University (2021–2013). In his final year with the Bears, he caught 28 passes for 528 yards and four touchdowns. The 26-year-old spent time on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad. The native of Pleasanton, California caught a touchdown pass in the 49ers’ final preseason game.

Brooks (5’8″, 171 lb) played five seasons at Kansas State University, recording 182 receptions for 2,127 yards and 14 touchdowns. The 26-year-old also returned 57 punts for 712 yards and four touchdowns, along with 44 kickoffs for 847 yards. The native of Lee’s Summit, MO, added 29 carries for 122 rushing yards and one touchdown. As a returner, Brooks earned All-Big 12 First Team honours in 2020 and Second Team honours in 2022.

Brooks had a stint in the CFL in 2025 with Hamilton and B.C. where he played three games.
