How the Alouettes can finish first in the East

The Montreal Alouettes will head into this weekend’s final regular season game in Winnipeg with the possibility of finishing in top spot in the East Division for the second year in a row.

Unfortunately for the Als, destiny isn’t in their hands, as they’ll need some help to finish first.

The Als and Tiger-Cats both have the same record (10-7-0), but the Ticats own the tiebreaker because they won both head-to-head matchups between the two teams.

So, what will it take for the Als to finish first?

The Alouettes absolutely need to finish with more points in the standings than the Tiger-Cats. That’s the most important thing to keep in mind when breaking down this race.

1- the Ottawa Redblacks will need to beat the Tiger-Cats at Hamilton Stadium on Friday night.

2- the Alouettes will need to beat or tie the Blue Bombers on Saturday afternoon.

If both of those things happen, the Alouettes would finish first and host the East Division Final at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 8 at 3:00 p.m. ET.

If the Tiger-Cats win or the Alouettes lose this weekend, the Alouettes will host the West Division crossover team in the East Division Semi-Final at Molson Stadium on Saturday, November 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET.

As of right now, the B.C. Lions, Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers can all mathematically still be the crossover team.

Alouettes playoff tickets are already available for purchase. You can pick up your seats by visiting goalsgo.com right now.
