Davis Alexander (personal) not at practice on Tuesday
Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander was not at practice on Tuesday. The team announced that he has gone back home for personal reasons.
“He had to go back home,” general manager Danny Maciocia said after practice. “But he could be back later today. We should get some more information on his situation later on today.
“As we speak, we expect him to be available for the upcoming game against Saskatchewan.”
The 25-year-old has looked sharp since starter Cody Fajardo went down due to injury. Alexander is 3-0 since taking over as the primary pivot. He has completed 51 of 69 passes for 687 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception. He’s also carried the ball seven times for 56 yards.

Tyson Philpot not on the field
Canadian receiver Tyson Philpot, who exited Saturday’s game in the first quarter against the Tiger-Cats with a lower-body injury, wasn’t on the field on Tuesday.
“We have him in for treatment right now because he’s not capable of being out here with us,” head coach Jason Maas said after Tuesday’s on-field session. “We’re going to rehab him, and when he’s ready to play, he’ll play.”
Whether or not the 24-year-old will be available for Friday night’s game in Regina remains to be seen, but there’s no denying that he was having a career year. Through eight games and one quarter, he has amassed an impressive 779 yards and five touchdowns on 58 receptions. He’s on pace to have one of the best receiving seasons in franchise history.

Will Austin Mack return to Montreal?
On Monday, the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons released receiver Austin Mack, who spent last season with the Alouettes.
The 26-year-old was named a CFL All-Star in his first year with the Als, as he finished with an impressive 1154 yards and four touchdowns on 78 receptions in 2023. Mack’s CFL rights belong to the Alouettes until February of 2025.
“I had a chance to talk to him,” Maciocia said of Mack. “He’s going to take time to see if there are any other NFL teams interested in his services. We should have a better idea over the next few days. But we always kept in contact with him, even when he was in Atlanta. I know how he feels about the Alouettes, but I know he has a desire to play in the NFL.
“I think we’re like a second family for him, but I know that he has the desire to play in the NFL, so we have to respect all that. We’ll be patient with him.”
