Alouettes receiver Tyler Snead returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering a foot injury on June 6 in Winnipeg. The 24-year-old has missed the last six games, but he appears to be inching closer to making his return.
“I felt good going out there,” Snead said after Monday’s session at Stade Hebert in Saint-Leonard. “Physically, I just got the go-ahead to start my return-to-play protocol last Friday. I’m feeling good. It’s getting better every day. The training staff is doing a great job every day and the trainers are doing a great job putting a program together for me.”
Snead was a limited participant in practice, according to the team’s medical report. Most of the work he did wasn’t on offence but on special teams helping on scout team.

“It feels different. Any time you put on the (practice) jersey, it’s a different mindset,” Snead, who had 62 yards receiving in his only game this season, said. “It felt good being back out here and being back with all the guys. They’re really supportive and they’ve been helping throughout the process. I’m just excited to be back out there.”
He was a key contributor on last year’s team that went on to win the Grey Cup in November. Despite playing in just 15 games in 2023, he managed to amass 56 receptions, 788 yards and five touchdowns. And based on his usage in the season-opener in Winnipeg, it appeared as though he was going to become an even more important part of the offence.
Whether or not Snead will be available for this Friday’s game in Hamilton remains to be seen.
“Since I’ve been cleared, I’ve felt pretty good,” he said. “It just depends on if I can put weight on (my foot) and if I can run and cut. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a good feel and get a good tell on what that brings. I’m trying to get back as soon as possible.”
