5 Reasons to come

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL HALFTIME SHOW:

How often can you say that you saw a pro football game and a cirque du Soleil performance on the same night? Well, the Alouettes are giving you that opportunity on Sunday night. During half-time Cirque du Soleil will be performing a portion of their ECHO show.

The ECHO show is “a spectacular performance combining poetry, stagecraft, daring acrobatics, and technology explores the delicate balance between people, animals, and the world we all share.”

Like football, performing for Cirque du Soleil requires remarkable physical strength. Get ready for this weekend’s trip to Percival Molson Stadium by watching two of our local stars, Marc-Antoine Dequoy and Pier-Olivier Lestage, attempt to participate in cirque-related challenges.

PREGAME CIRCUS FUN:

The circus show won’t just be limited to half-time. Prior to the game, there will be performances from jugglers and hula hoop specialists in the Biergarden. They will set the table for the big show, and they’ll get the party started prior to kick-off.

SWEET COMBO:

Starting at just $19, you can get your children (12 and under) a Sweet Combo which includes a ticket to the game, a Slush Puppie drink and a bucket of Mini Puppie cotton candy! Give your family a great view of the action on the field with a seat on the upper deck of the south side while satisfying their sweet cravings!

Please note that anybody who purchases this combo will need to pick up the concession vouchers at the stadium box office located at entrance number 3.

COME WATCH A PAIR OF STAR RECEIVERS:

Coming into this season, many wondered who the go-to receivers would be on this team. Through five games, that question has been answered. Austin Mack and Kaion Julien-Grant have emerged as legitimate CFL stars in 2023.

Prior to last week’s bye week, Mack (458 yards) and Julien-Grant (415 yards) were first and third in the league respectively in receiving yards. Mack was also first in receptions (30) and he is still first in big-play receptions (30+ yards), with five.

As for Julien-Grant, continues to lead the league in yards after the catch (209) and he is tied for second in big-play receptions, with four.

CLOSE MATCHUPS

Over the last few seasons, the Alouettes and Stampeders have played very close games. In their last five meetings (dating back to 2018), neither side has won a game by more than six points. The Stamps have won three of the five meetings, but Montreal won the most memorable matchup on the road in 2019 when they overcome an 11-point deficit with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to win in double overtime, 40-34.

This will be Calgary’s first visit to Percival Molson Stadium since Oct. 5, 2019. The Alouettes won that game 21-17.
