Randy Ambrosie’s statement

Dear Fan of the Montreal Alouettes,

I’m writing you because your Montreal Alouettes have some news to share today.

The CFL has acquired the Als from their previous owners, Gary Stern and the estate of the late Sid Spiegel.

I want you to know that we plan to own the team strictly on an interim basis. We have already launched an accelerated process to sell the team to new owners. And we are very pleased to report that we have quickly received strong interest from several groups, including people and companies who live or operate in Montreal or elsewhere in Quebec.

In other words, we’re hopeful and optimistic that today is just a step towards a new era for the Als.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual. General Manager Danny Maciocia continues to focus on the important work of building the team’s roster for the upcoming 2023 season. And we have appointed Mario Cecchini to serve as the team’s interim president. He is overseeing the franchise’s day to day business operations.

We’ll all work together to keep you posted, of course. And we remain very grateful for your support.

The Alouettes are a team on an upward path, and we look forward to the Als continuing to stay on that path. I’m sure you are too.

Yours in football,

Randy Ambrosie, Commissioner
