Tyrice Beverette named CFL Player of the Week

Montreal, October 4, 2022 – Montreal Alouettes linebacker Tyrice Beverette was named the CFL Player of the Week.The Lakewood, NJ native recorded five defensive tackles, a knockdown, and most of all, made an interception which he returned 100 yards for the winning touchdown in an important road game. He helped Montreal win a fifth game in its last six, allowing the team reach the ,500 barrier for the first time this season.With the Elks up 18-17 in the fourth quarter, and threatening to accentuate their lead, deep in the Alouettes territory, the former Stony Brook University Seawolf changed the pace of the game with a crucial play.

 

Following his interception of quarterback Taylor Cornelius, the Alouettes never looked back for the rest of the game. Beverette and his teammates shut the Edmonton offence out in the second half.The Alouettes will play their next game on Monday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. against the Ottawa REDBLACKS at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.Tyrice Beverette was chosen by a panel of judges made up of Matt Dunigan and Marshall Ferguson of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS, who independently sent their selections to the CFL head office.
