Montreal, May 3, 2022 – With the first overall pick in the 2022 CFL Global Draft, the Montreal Alouettes selected Nigerian defensive end Kingsley Jonathan. The Alouettes then claimed Netherlands tight End Thomas Odukoya and Australian kicker Kirk Christodoulou with their second and third picks repectively.
Jonathan (6’4”, 260 lb.) just signed with the Buffalo Bills after concluding his collegiate career with the Syracuse Orange last fall. The 24-year-old amassed 101 tackles and 15 sacks in 56 games with Syracuse, on top of knocking down four passes, forcing three fumbles, and recovering two. In 2020, he was named the ACC’s top senior football student-athlete.
Odukoya (6’6”, 263 lb.) has just joined the Tennessee Titans following four seasons with the Eastern Michigan University Eagles, where he caught 21 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns in 40 games.
Christodoulou (6’1”, 225 lbs.) was a four-year starter with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. In 2021, the 24-year-old maintained a 41.4-yard average on 61 punts, on top of pinning down opposing teams inside their 20-yard line on 21 occasions. He was selected to play in the Tropical Bowl all-star game.
