Mike Moore at the helm of a new beginning!

If you liked the defensive line in 2021? Wait until you see the one in 2022…

Heading to a nearby football stadium, a six-foot, 269-pound titan, we are pleased to introduce defensive lineman Mike Moore.

Moore, who spent his last four seasons with the Edmonton Elks after breaking into the CFL in 2016 with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, is finally feathering his nest with the Alouettes and we’re not the only ones who can’t sit still!

I knew something was going to happen with all the changes in the Edmonton team, so I knew my time here would probably end soon. I’m not angry about it, I’m just excited about the change and can’t wait to get started!

Rest assured that this is a player who will not disappoint. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and this one is particularly tasty. In his last season with the Elks, Mike played in 19 games, recording 11 tackles and two sacks. A real terror that intends to wake up on our soil.

I’m a very aggressive player who wants to win. I’m usually one of those guys who yells and screams during games and talks smack to the other team, even if they are my friends, because I want to win!

Not only is he able to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, but he also doesn’t back down from anyone. In his time in the CFL, the University of Virginia product has established himself as a player who can stop any quarterback’s momentum. The 28-year-old has played in 48 CFL games, totalling 69 defensive tackles, 17 quarterback sacks and one forced fumble.

As the 2022 season gets underway, Moore says he’s excited to be in an Alouettes uniform and is already planning a little friendly competition with the other pillars of our defensive line. Defensive linemen with ammunition that Mike is quite familiar with, having shared the Elks’ field with them at some point.

Usher and Sewell are guys I played with in Edmonton and we had one of the best defensive lines in the CFL, so to be back with them is very promising!

In Edmonton, we didn’t have the year we wanted, so I really want to enjoy next year with the guys that I know can put me in the best position because I know their abilities.

What is certain is that his arrival on the team will clearly solidify an unstoppable defensive line. And since he is already familiar with the style of our coach Barron Miles, having worked with him during his time with the Elks, Mike is convinced that he will be able to fulfill this mandate perfectly.

I approach every season with the same mindset, which is to be the best defensive player I can be. I’m not going to try to outshine anyone, I just want to focus on myself and get the best results I can, hopefully the best in the CFL.

As he prepares to set foot in the city, Mike is also preparing to welcome a new member to the family; a little one expected for the start of training camp. Now that’s a good omen!

I’m trying to teach them the team colors right now. Since they like Mario Kart so much, I try to get them excited by telling them that we are the Mario colours!

To top off the good news, the Hyattsville, Maryland native added that his move to la belle province will allow his family on the East Coast of the United States to be even more present during home games.

Once I told my mom and dad, and especially my sister, they were all very excited, because they are still on the East Coast, which will allow them to come to more games.

We’re going to have to make room in the nest because the Als family is growing!
