Recap of Saturday’s intra-squad game.

Montreal, July 24, 2021 – For the first time since November 2019 the Montreal Alouettes hit the field at Percival-Molson Memorial Stadium on Saturday night. The good news is, they were sure to win this time because it was an intrasquad game. Everything from the game day was recreated, from music to the warm-up, to game officials. Only the fans were missing. They will have to wait for the home opener on August 27, but if we rely on this scrimmage, the wait will be well worth it.

The offence began strongly when  Vernon Adams Jr. threw a 60-yard pass to Quan Bray on the first play of the game. Adams Jr. was on the verge of repeating that pattern with BJ Cunningham on the next play, but his feet hugged with those of the defensive back and the receiver fell on the ground.

Matt Shiltz also had a great game, as he dodged a few players before throwing a dart to Jake Wieneke. He displayed great mobility all evening long.

Noteworthy plays include a 23-yard-pass from Vernon Adams Jr. to Dante Absher, as well as a touchdown pass from Matt Shiltz to Reggie White Jr., left unattended under the goal post. Taku Lee also managed to avoid a few tackles and sneak into the goal zone in the second half of the game.

He said it

“I am pleased with the effort of our players. They were smart tonight on the field. I’ve seen a number of good plays both in offence and defence, we are looking forward to the start of the season” said Alouettes Head Coach Khari Jones.
