A stunning DB: Pickett is in the spotlight!

Montreal, July 23, 2021 – Since the start of training camp, defensive back Adarius Pickett has been impressive. He knocked down passes, intercepted balls and multiplied tackles.

The 24-year-old American is not surprised by his game so far.

“I’m just in love with football and I thank the Alouettes for this opportunity. I have another chance in the sport that I love and I intend to do everything to live my dream.”

Pickett’s path is anything but ordinary. In 2019, he was a member of the Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots practice squads. When he was released by the Patriots in 2020, the native of Berkeley, CA returned to UCLA, his alma mater, where he became an assistant coach, a sign of a good work ethic for this athlete who also shows unwavering confidence.

“I fly to the ball, that is my mentality and that is how I start games on a field”.

The rookie, whose nickname is Pick Six Pick, because of his habit of making interceptions, is happy to be in Montreal for the first time.

“I have not been able to see the city but I intend to do so as soon as things will be more permissive. I have heard so much about this city, and I consider myself very lucky to have a chance with the Alouettes.”

Interesting fact, it is Brian Norwood a former coach at Baylor University, who told him about the Alouettes. Norwood is now a coach at UCLA and praised the organization of the Alouettes following Patrick Levels’ comments, that he had under his wing during his years at Baylor. «Patrick had only good words to say about this team so it made my choice easier”.

He said it

“We’re going to have a lot of time to evaluate the guys. It’s still an intrasquad game (tomorrow), so we won’t see all the intensity. The guys are all looking forward to jump on the field and be playing at our home stadium.”
