Kristian Matte: Home is where his heart is

Our 10-year veteran, o-lineman Kristian Matte, will be back in our locker room in 2020 and everyone is thrilled about it. So much so that we pulled some of the best pics of our big guy through the year as well as some quotes from his most recent press conference.

The question wasn’t whether I would play here or not. It’s way too important for me to be here, this is my home. I don’t want to play anywhere else, I have the Alouettes logo tattooed on my heart.

For the o-line, what matters most is chemistry. When the same guys can play together for as long as possible, it really helps.

I’m not the type of guy that talks a lot, but when it’s my job to do it, I do it. Over the last 10 years, I was able to earn the respect of my teammates by doing just that.

When Vernon is in town during the offseason, he knows he can always call me to watch some film or take a few snaps. We texted each other a few times in the last months. I think it’s important to keep in touch.

We now have two great leaders in place. Last season, we made tremendous progress as a team, we were able to get through difficult times and to prove how special we are. Now that we also have the right people in place, sky’s the limit.
