The Montreal Alouettes announced on Monday that Running Backs Coach André Bolduc, Offensive Line Assistant Coach Luc Brodeur-Jourdain and Special Teams Coordinator Mickey Donovan will return with the team in 2020. Bolduc will also assume the duties of Assistant Head Coach.
“I’m very happy that the organization has confidence in myself and I am excited to pursue the work we have started last year, declared Bolduc. Stability, which is an essential part of the team’s success, combined with the leadership of Coach Jones will help us continue to thrive.”
“It was important to bring back those three coaches with us“, said Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Khari Jones. “André knows this team inside out and his influence on the guys is very positive. He fully deserves to be promoted Assistant Head Coach. I love the passion and knowledge Luc brings to our team as he made a smooth transition from player to Assistant Coach. As for Mickey, we got some solid play from our special teams and he made them progress all season long.”
In 2020, Bolduc will be starting his 19th season in coaching as he will lead the running backs squad for a fourth season. The 48-year-old joined the Alouettes coaching staff in 2014 occupying many positions since, from assistant offensive coordinator, to receivers coach and special team assistant coach. He was the former Head Coach with the Université de Sherbrooke Vert et Or for five seasons from 2007 to 2011 and also coached the Cégep Montmorency Nomads, leading the team to its first Bol D’Or game in 2005.
Brodeur-Jourdain played his last game on July 4 and joined the Alouettes coaching staff five days later. The former offensive lineman played 11 seasons with Montreal and won two Grey Cups in 2009 and 2010.
Donovan, 39, was named Special Teams Coordinator with the Alouettes in 2018. He was previously the Concordia University Stingers’ Head Coach since 2014. He began his coaching career in 2007 at Western University, where he coached the linebackers, while also being in charge of special teams as well as recruitment.
