Training camp report – Day 3

By holding training camp on the McGill University campus, the Montreal Alouettes are not only taking advantage of having everything at the same convenient and central spot in the heart of Montreal, but the players also have an opportunity to get to know their home field even more.

Indeed, the players are able to get a better feel for their home turf at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium and all of its areas, notably the end zones, which are cut off by the track field.

“For sure it’s a good thing for us to practice here and that’s what we did in the other two teams I played for,” said fullback Christophe Normand, who is in his first season with the Alouettes. “The landmarks are different in this stadium, we are all on the same sideline during practice, the end zones are hexagonal and having camp here allows us to recreate exactly the same thing that we would see during a game.”

Rapid Fire

Alouettes second round pick from earlier this month Nathan Anderson should be on the field with his new teammates tomorrow… Linebacker Boseko Lokombo demonstrated that he has no quit following a completion to a receiver as he forced the fumble before returning it all the way to the end zone for six points… Fullback Christophe Normand is already enjoying his new environment, it’s a good sign when the guys tease one of the new players on the team … Head coach Mike Sherman congratulated the guys after the two practices on Wednesday. He told the group that he liked their intensity for four hours and complimented their great shape out there. Andrew Lissade and Vincent Roof-Racine, the Alouettes strength and conditioning coaches can be proud of their work off field with the guys.

He said It

“We had a very productive day with two back-to-back practices starting at 8:30 this morning. Our group of receivers is already on the same page as our quarterbacks, which explains some beautiful catches yesterday and today. The quarterbacks know where to find us on the field and we know where the ball is going.” – B.J. Cunningham
