The Alouettes faced the rain on the seventh day of the 2018 Mise-o-jeu training camp presented in Montreal. For the occasion, players wore their full uniform and simulated a few game situations.
CFL officials were on site to get the players acclimated to what officials might call throughout during a game. Mike Sherman’s players showed that they are a disciplined bunch, as referee Andre Proulx and his colleagues on site did not have to throw many flags.
Defensive end Jean-Samuel Blanc liked the intensity of the guys on Saturday. “We have been practicing for a week, it feels good to simulate certain game situations,” said the former Université de Montréal Carabins. “I liked the reaction of some guys on key plays. It’s not easy when a new group of guys plays together for the first time, but I think everything went well and what I saw was positive. ”
Offensive lineman Xavier Fulton got to see a lot of action this week. “The guys on our line follow the coaching guidelines and veterans are helping the younger players. We play better every day because there is communication between the guys. Knowing how your teammates will react, allows you to prepare better your game and anticipate how to protect the quarterback.”
Transactions
The Alouettes added international offensive lineman Brandon Pertile to the roster. The former Oklahoma State University Cowboy and Virginia University Cavalier had joined the Detroit Lions earlier this season. During his last collegiate season in 2017, he made 11 starts and helped protect quarterback Kurt Benkert who became the first quarterback in Cavaliers history to pass for more than 3,000 yards.
