The Montreal Alouettes opened the 2018 Mise-o-jeu training camp under a radiant sun on Sunday afternoon in Montreal, all while being cheered on by a few hundred fans.
More than 80 players reported to head coach Mike Sherman who appreciated the energy his guys showed on the field.
“I liked our intensity and I thought we had a good practice,” said Sherman. “Our goal is to get better every day and I think that was the case today.”
Quarterback Josh Freeman threw some nice passes, including a bomb of close to 40 yards to former Bishop’s University Gaiter Stephen Adekolu.
A few minutes later, quarterback Antonio Pipkin made everyone in the stands happy when he connected with receiver Eugene Lewis in the end zone. Many fans got up and cheered.

Receiver B.J. Cunningham is still as cheerful. Following practice, he spoke with many fans while signing autographs… Offensive lineman Kristian Matte also did his fair share of autograph signing before fulfilling his media obligations… Alouettes first pick Trey Rutherford enjoyed his first professional practice. He worked hard in the trenches before getting interviewed… Many fans had the chance to get their picture taken with newcomer Jean-Gabriel Poulin and were also able to get his autograph.

The Alouettes added international defensive back C.J. Moore as well as international offensive lineman Ruben Carter to the roster.
Tomorrow
The Alouettes will take part in consecutive practices starting at 8:30 a.m. at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. The press box on the North side of the stadium will be open to the media. The McConnell Arena parking will be open via University Street at McGill’s usual rate.
