Montreal, July 3, 2017 – The Montreal Alouettes and Parc olympique announced a new three-year partnership for the use of the field, training facilities as well as the football operations office.
This renewal will allow the team to practice on an artificial turf inside Olympic Stadium every week. Furthermore, with the collaboration of the Montreal Impact, the team will also be able to practice on the outdoor field located between Olympic Stadium and Saputo Stadium, which belongs to the soccer club, when the main area will be used for other events such as a concert or an exposition.
“We are extremely happy to have reached this new partnership, which will allow our football team to optimize its environment and better prepare itself to win football games,” declared Alouettes President and CEO Patrick Boivin. “Parc olympique is a very functional place for our team and it will be even truer following all of the upgrades that will be made to the installations. Our road towards each win begins at Parc olympique.”
A new training room to be used exclusively by the players will be created, as immediate improvements will be made to the locker room and other training rooms. A new production studio will also see the day allowing for the timely creation of more exclusive content for the team.
“This partnership is very important for the continued success of our team on the field, as players will now be able to get ready for games in a first class environment without having to leave the facility. These more than positive changes off the field will have a direct impact on the field,” said Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed.
The Alouettes and Parc olympique will also join forces to create an annual community event to benefit youths in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
“The history of the Alouettes is intrinsically linked to that of the Parc olympique, and that, as of the first Alouettes’ game played at Olympic Stadium on September 26, 1976,” declared Parc olympique President and General Manager Michel Labrecque. “We are thrilled about this new partnership which will allow the Alouettes to improve their training conditions. Parc olympique is already a major attraction in Montreal as it hosts an average of one million visitors annually. The presence of the Alouettes adds to the vibrancy of Parc olympique and Olympic Stadium in particular.”
All of the team’s practices will remain open to the public. A special section will allow them to see their favourite players preparing for their upcoming game on a weekly basis.
The Alouettes are also committed to play at least one game at Olympic Stadium during the upcoming seasons.
