5 reasons to come to the July 6 game

5 reasons to come to the July 6 game

Back from Edmonton where they put up a valiant fight, the Alouettes are now preparing for another tough West division opponent, this time the BC Lions. This Thursday, July 6, the Als will be home at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium and you’ve got to be there. We’ll explain why!

A 2nd home victory is in our sights
Ah, the Montreal fans! Everyone knows them. Their energy, the noise they make… there’s a good reason why opposing teams hate playing here! Our players are hard at work intending to make the Lions’ life miserable Thursday night, but it’s a lot more fun when you play a key role as well.
On Thursday, our young team will continue with the progress it’s been making. We’re looking forward to seeing a perfectly tailored game plan, with plays being executed even better and watching the exploits of the surprising Durant-Underwood tandem. And if you come with your usual high-energy level, all the pieces of the puzzle will be in place for the Als to record their second home victory of the season.

Hot dogs, hot dogs and even more hot dogs!

Nothing goes better with a football game than hot dogs. This Thursday, hot dogs will be just $2, thanks to Lesters. This special only happens once a year! Make sure to take advantage – – come to the game on an empty stomach! Hot dog eating contests will be allowed (at your own risk). Maximum 10 hot dogs at a time.

Tyrell Sutton’s speed

Tyrell Sutton is 5 feet 8 inches tall. That’s right, just 5 feet 8 inches tall. BUT DID YOU SEE HIM SHRED THE ESKIMOS’ DEFENCE? He’s not only fast, he is i-n-d-e-s-t-r-u-c-t-i-b-l-e. The running back amassed 106 total yards in Edmonton, 88 of them on the ground, and he’s just getting started. Right now, he’s the second-leading rusher in the league, behind Jeremiah Johnson… you guessed it, of the Lions. Will Tyrell dominate the league like he did in 2015 ? It’s shaping up that way. You belong at the top, Tyrell!

Revenge time

A few weeks ago it was Darian Durant who settled some scores with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. That went quite well for our number 4 😊 Now, it’s time for a trio of former Lions, Jovan Olafioye, Jabar Westerman and Ryan Phillips to go head-to-head against their former teammates. I don’t know what you think, but Jovan Olafioye doesn’t come across as the kind of guy who’ll let someone walk over him…

A unbreakable offensive line

When you’ve got a quarterback like Darian Durant, you make certain he’s well-protected! And that’s exactly what the offensive line accomplished in the first two games. Featuring Quebecers Kristian Matte and Luc Brodeur-Jourdain along with all-stars Brian Simmons and Jovan Olafioye, the O-line didn’t allow either the Roughriders or the Eskimos to get close to their QB. It’s been a long time that we’ve been waiting for an offensive line that’s as united and tough as this one!
