Jonathon Mincy among CFL players of the week

Defensive back Jonathon Mincy had a memorable outing last Thursday in the Alouettes home opener, which the team won 17-16 over the Saksatchewan Roughriders in dramatic fashion. So much so, that he finished third in player of the week voting in the CFL.

Mincy (5’10”, 196 lbs.) neutralized the Roughriders receivers he faced all night, knocking down two passes while intercepting another. He pilfered the pass at the start of the fourth quarter, when the Roughriders had entered Alouettes territory and put a stop to an important drive. The 24-year-old also made five defensive tackles on the night.

Top Performers of the Week in the Canadian Football League are selected by former CFL players turned analysts on TSN and RDS Duane Forde, Matt Dunigan and Pierre Vercheval. Fans can go vote for their choice via the CFL Twitter account (@CFLca). Each week, the player who obtains the most fan votes will receive bonus points.

Mincy and his teammates will be looking for their second win of the season on Friday night when the Alouettes face the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium at 10:00 p.m. (TSN, RDS, TSN690 and 98,5fm).
