Home opener – Plenty to look forward to

Montreal – Montreal Alouettes will have plenty to look forward to at the regular season home opener at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on June 22, when the team goes up against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. with the traditional pre-game tailgate and the added attraction of the Yves Lambert Trio (from La bottine souriante) and the band Socalled produced by POP Montréal providing the entertainment to kickstart the St-Jean-Baptiste long weekend in style! Tailgaiters can also learn the best barbecuing techniques from none other than BBQ Québec’s guru of the grill Max Lavoie, who’ll be with us for all home games this season. And there’s also CKOI’s virtual reality kiosk where visitors can find out what it’s like to be on the field for a CFL game.

And that’s not all! Over-and-above seeing Darian Durant in an Alouettes’ uniform taking on his former teammates, fans in attendance will be front and centre to some breathtaking performances. The national anthem will be sung by les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, and they’ll be followed by a Canadian Armed Forces’ CF-18 flyover. Guaranteed thrills! At halftime, 2016 Vanier Cup champions the Université Laval Rouge et Or will be saluted and, immediately after, there’ll be a performance by Cirque Éloize, courtesy of the Société des célébrations du 375e anniversaire de Montréal, that’s sure to impress.

“The June 22 home opener and all of the festivities surrounding it are going to be one of the best shows ever presented by the Alouettes,” said Bernard Asselin, Vice-President, Marketing, Sales and Events with the Alouettes. “Getting all these performers and people together at one single sports event is a real tour de force, and we wanted to do it to make our fans happy. Being close to the community continues to be an important pillar for the organization.”

The 2017 season will be especially exciting for fans. Changes that were made on the field, as well as in the stadium, will improve the gameday experience. The many new features, like the all-included Party Terrace, the Archibald microbrewery kiosk and the Poutine & Co. food truck are all certain to please. Learn more HERE.
