Alouettes sign Adams Jr. to a three-year deal

MONTREAL – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Sunday that the club has signed recently acquired quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. to a three-year deal.

Adams Jr. (5’11”, 200 lbs.) spent his senior year as the University of Oregon Ducks starting pivot, where he played at a very high level completing 168 of his 259 passes good for 2,643 passing yards while throwing 26 touchdown passes and being intercepted only six times. The Pasadena, CA native maintained a 64.9 completion rate with the Ducks, adding 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 83 carries.

Prior to joining the Ducks, Adams Jr. led the Eastern Washington Eagles offence during three seasons. Over the course of his collegiate career, the 23-year-old quarterback threw for an impressive total of 13,081 passing yards, scoring 136 touchdowns. During his last two seasons with the Eagles he was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, awarded to the top offensive player in the NCAA FCS. He made rookie mini-camp appearances with the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Redskins. Adams Jr. maintained a stellar 35-9 as a starter in the NCAA.
