Minicamp report – Day 2

WEST PALM BEACH – Following a short night’s sleep, the Montreal Alouettes were back at work Thursday morning at Oxbridge Academy, in West Palm Beach, FL.

Great guest speakers
All while assimilating new plays and working hard in 30 degree Celsius weather, the Alouettes players had the opportunity to listen to inspiring words from special guest speakers.

First off, Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp invited Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter to address his players for a few minutes.

After watching the players practice hard, Sergeants Morehouse and Zimmerman from the US Army spoke to the players. They explained to the players that they had many things in common, such as the importance of teamwork and leadership.

Synchronized offence
The second day of minicamp had it’s fair share of spectacular plays. This time, the catch of the day was made by receiver Duron Carter, as he was able to hang on to the ball on the sideline, while defensive back Jovon Johnson was certain he had broken up the Kevin Glenn pass. Instead, Carter’s safe hands transformed the play into a 45-yard gain.

S.J. Green and Jerry Rice Jr. also made spectacular plays, as did young receivers Tommy Shuler and Chandler Jones.

The offensive coaches were very satisfied with the way their squad has been performing thus far in Florida.

“This camp revealed that the work we put in during the off-season was very positive and very productive. I don’t want to say that I’m surprised, but I think certain coaches and football operations staff will be astonished to see such a good performance at minicamp,” said Alouettes Special Advisor to the Offensive Coordinator and Receivers Coach Jacques Chapdelaine. “It’s very rare for a team to be as synchronized this fast and I can’t wait for training camp to start.”

Back on the field
The Alouettes will be back on the field on Friday, as the team will return to the Oxbridge Academy Field starting at 10:15 a.m. for the third and final day of minicamp.
