“We thank Patrick Lavoie for his contributions on and off the field since his arrival with the Montreal Alouettes,” said Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp. “He has been a great ambassador for our team and we hope to see him back in an Alouettes uniform in the future.”

“This past year, Pat suffered an unfortunate off-season back injury that required surgery and limited his play in 2013. His role was reduced due to the injury and when he returned he suffered another injury setback to his hamstring,” added Popp.

“We know Pat will continue to work hard at returning to the form and success that he had during his rookie season. We wish him nothing but the best in his future as a player and in the business world, once he has decided to call it a career.”

“This round proves that the expansion draft is a tricky process and we are not able to protect everyone,” explained Popp. “We have to look at our team now, the role of the player, and what the future holds at developing the Alouettes.”
