2014: Montreal Alouettes

The three-year CFL veteran once again played a major role within the Alouettes’ special teams’ unit recording 11 tackles in 13 regular season contests. He added one special teams tackles in two playoff outings.

2013: Montreal Alouettes

Townsend lead the team in special teams tackles with 15, despite an absence of five games for personal reasons. For two seasons now, he has been one of the Alouettes go to players on special teams. When he is not making the tackle, the Windsor, ON is never too far from the returner being tackled. His best game in 2013 occurred on August 22 against the B.C. Lions where the special teams' ace recorded four tackles.

2012: Montreal Alouettes

The Windsor, ON native finished second on the Alouettes and in the CFL for special teams tackles with 26.Townsend had a career performance, racking up a personal best and game-high four special team tackles on July 27 against the Argonauts . The former product with the Windsor Lancers also earned Special Teams Player of the Week for his work in Week 5—the first time in his young career.

2011: Montreal Alouettes

Saw his first CFL action in the East Division Semi-Final at Olympic Stadium after spending the beginning of the season on the Saskatchewan and Winnipeg practice rosters.

He played his university football for the Windsor Lancers, where he was fifth in the Ontario University Athletics with 44 solo tackles. He is part of the Windsor’s Finest football academy, which aims to promote leadership, team work, nutrition, motivation and anti-bullying towards the youth.
