Touché The eldest, but smallest, of the Alouettes’ bird family, Touché learned to deal with his celebrity status at a very early age.
The eight-year-old Touché has been entertaining Alouettes’ fans since his act was hatched in 1996.
During the football season and throughout the winter, Touché spends countless hours to public appearances and community involvement.
Touché flew the coop briefly in 1997, distraught by the small crowds the Alouettes were drawing to Olympic Stadium. As a means of boosting ticket sales, Touché perched in a tree in Dominion Square in downtown Montreal until enough tickets were sold to make him happy and lure him back to solid ground.
Touché loves to spend time with kids and has quickly become a important figure in the Montreal community. He has a younger brother called Blitz.
Not to be outdone by his older brother, Blitz earned international media coverage in 2003 when he got a llittle too close to the action on the field.
In a bird brain cramp, Blitz was assessed an objectionable conduct penalty for bumping a game official while joining an Alouettes’ touchdown celebration. The penalty, a first-ever for a CFL mascot, put Blitz deep in head coach Don Matthews’ bird house. The coach fined Blitz, who was prepared to go to the bank was rescued by team owners Bob and Lisa Wetenhall agreed to cover the tab.
Blitz was born in 1999 when the Wetenhalls decided Touché needed a little brother.
Blitz is much taller than his older brother. Along with entertaining Alouettes’ fans and making public appearances, Blitz likes walking, running and jumping on his head.
