Senior Director, Communications and Branding

2015 – David Messier joined the team in June 2013 as Senior Director, Communications and Branding. He oversees all aspects of marketing, communications and media relations, as well as community relations. As part of his functions, he is responsible for the development and the implementation of the club’s branding, marketing, communications and community relations initiatives.

During his studies at University de Montréal, he volunteered for the Alouettes as a media relations assistant during the team’s home games. He began his career as a research journalist for CKAC 730 in Montreal. He also held the position of Communications Officer for the 40th Jeux du Québec in Saint-Hyacinthe. In 2005, he joined La Cage aux Sports restaurants as a Marketing Project Manager, where he was responsible for the coordination of local marketing with franchisees. In December 2005, he accompanied boxer Éric Lucas during a promotional tour in Denmark in preparation for his fight against Mikkel Kessler.

Named Marketing and Communications Director in 2009, David developed and implemented the marketing plan for La Cage aux Sports restaurants and InterBox. During his eight years with Groupe Sportscene inc., he organized 15 world championship fights for Interbox fighters.

In 2011, he co-directed the Jeep Quebec Open, an international beach volleyball event. After only its first year, the event was recognized by the International Beach Volleyball Federation for its success, and was spoken of highly by the federation to tournament promoters around the world. Raised in Saint-Hyacinthe, he currently lives in Belœil with his partner Catherine, their daughter, Clara and their son, Olivier.
