EDMONTON (CFL.ca wire) -- The Edmonton Eskimos have signed former Louisiana Tech star receiver Eric Newman, the club announced on Monday.

In four seasons with the Bulldogs, Newman posted 104 receptions for 1,608 yards and 14 touchdowns -– tied for 10th on the school’s all-time list. He led the team in receiving in each of his last two years. Newman also excelled as a returner, with 66 kickoff returns for 1,418 yards during his college career.

Newman signed as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons and was released following their 2007 training camp.
