Mademoiselle Alouette : Marie-Noƫlle

A 23-year-old veteran of the Alouettes’ cheerleading squad, Marie-NoĆ«lle has been patrolling the sidelines at Percival Molson Stadium for the last four seasons.

“My favourite thing is being part of the team here. I’m so lucky to be part of a group of 30 or so girls who really care about each other and have experienced a lot of fun things together,” she said.

Marie-Noƫlle originally tried out on the advice of teammate and close friend, Lili-Pierre.

“Lili-Pierre would tell me all the time about what she was doing and how much fun she was having,” said Marie-NoĆ«lle. “Before I even tried out, I already had a better idea of how it worked than most. The audition was exciting and I was so happy to make the team.”

A full year before becoming a cheerleader, Marie-Noƫlle had a small taste of the action.

“I worked with POM as a “POM Girl” during the game and I loved performing in front of the crowds at Percival Molson Stadium,” she said. “That experience was a big inspiration for me to try out in 2004.”

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from the University of Montreal, Marie-NoĆ«lle currents works as a human resources coordinator with Pneu SP.

“I wanted to work with people. At first, I was leaning towards psychology, but then I decided to follow my father’s lead and go into industrial relations,” she explained. “I handle salary and benefits management, workplace accident dossiers, some hiring and personnel decisions and some other files as well.”

She might not be a full-time dancer, but dancing is by far her biggest passion.

“I started dancing about an hour a week when I was 10 years old and by 11 I was up to six hours a week,” she explained. “By the time I was in high school, I was dancing something like 20 hours a week. It’s a huge part of who I am, and that’s why I love being a cheerleader today.”
