Taylor & Green off to the Big Apple

January 09, 2010

Montreal, Jan. 9, 2010 - The Alouettes confirmed today that return specialist Larry Taylor and receiver SJ Green have both signed with the New York Jets. The Alouettes retain the rights to both players should either or both return to the CFL during the 2010 season.

In two seasons with the Alouettes, Taylor returned 137 punts for 1,360 yards and three touchdowns as well as 80 kickoffs for 1,710 yards. Taylor was Montreal's top special teamer in both 2008 and 2009 and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2009.

Green has been a key depth player since joining Montreal in 2007. In three seasons, he registered 353 yards and three of touchdowns on 26 receptions while being counted on to step in whenever a starting receiver was out of the lineup.

"We wish Larry and SJ the best of luck with the Jets. They were both important contributors to our 2009 Grey Cup season and were special parts of our team," said Alouettes GM and Vice President Jim Popp.

It's a shame to lose them for sure...but if the Jets can't appreciate what they'll bring to the table, then we'll welcome them back with open arms. All the best Larry & SJ! Go get 'em!!
