Montreal – Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman isn’t out looking for revenge – it’s just not the way the second-year bench boss handles himself.
So when the Als visit the Stampeders on Wednesday night at McMahon Stadium (10pm RDS HD, TSN HD, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD 800 AM) in Calgary in what others are calling a Grey Cup rematch – and possibly even a Grey Cup preview – don’t be surprised if Trestman has a different outlook on things…
Grow and learn from the past, don’t avenge it.
It’s a new season with a lot of familiar faces for the Alouettes and even some new ones.
After spending a three weeks at training camp in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, the Als finally have their 46-man roster.
Offence…
On the offensive side of the field, obvious returnees like Anthony Calvillo, Ben Cahoon, Scott Flory, Bryan Chiu, Kerry Watkins, Jamel Richardson and Avon Cobourne are all set for Wednesday’s season debut, while newcomers like Andrew Hawkins and Brandon Whitaker will look to make their mark in the early stages of the 2009 campaign.
Defence…
On the other side, a few changes were made to the Als’ defensive unit with players like T.J. Hill and Reggie Hunt being let go, and extremely capable youngsters like Paul Woldu and Shea Emry being expected step up to another level this season.
Last season saw the Als go 0-2-0 against the Stampeders before falling to them once more in the Grey Cup.
This week’s matchup is the first step towards the Grey Cup in Calgary for all eight teams, tune in from July to November to see how it all unfolds.
The Montreal Alouettes will visit the Stampeders at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium this Wednesday, July 1 at 10 p.m. (RDS HD, TSN HD, CKAC SPORTS, CJAD 800 AM, CHOM 97.7).
