
Montreal, Aug. 19, 2008 – Running back Avon Cobourne, defensive tackle Keron Williams, and cornerback Davis Sanchez have all been named Players of the Week following the Alouettes’ 32-14 win over the Argonauts in Toronto last Friday night.
Cobourne – Offensive Player of the Week
Cobourne was a unanimous choice as the league’s top offensive player of the week having gained over 200 total yards against the Argos. The league’s top rusher after eight weeks with 715 yards on the ground so far, Cobourne registered 107 yards on 16 carries on Friday. He is currently on a streak of four-straight games with at least 100 yards rushing.
Also a major receiving threat this season, Cobourne caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown against Toronto. He currently leads the CFL with 46 receptions and is on pace for well over 1,000 receiving yards and rushing this year.
Williams – Defensive Player of the Week
Williams was named the top defensive player after registering three sacks and four tackles – one of which went for a loss of two yards – against the Argos.
Williams is currently third in the league and first on the Als with six quarterback takedowns this season. A first-year Alouettes, he played with the Stampeders in 2006 and 2007 before signing with Montreal this past off-season.
Sanchez – Canadian Player of the Week
Sanchez received top Canadian honours after intercepting a pass, which he returned for 26 yards, on top of registering three tackles in the win. The North Delta, BC, native has 16 tackles and two interceptions so far this season.

Return specialist Larry Taylor was also up for Player of the Week award, finishing as a runner-up for top special-teamer.
