Montreal, July 2, 2008 – Following a 293-yard, two-touchdown performance in his first game in eight months, Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo was named today the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1. Calvillo was not the only Alouette honoured this week, as kicker/punter Damon Duval was also named the league’s top special teams player of the week.

Calvillo completed 25 of 37 for 293 yards, twice finding receiver Kerry Watkins for touchdowns. Duval made four field goals on four attempts while recording 301 yards on five kickoffs. He also totalled 220 yards on five punts. As a result of their performances, the Alouettes were 33-10 winners over the Tiger-Cats in the CFL’s 2008 season opener on June 26 in Hamilton.

The Alouettes will next host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this Friday at 7 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium (RDS/TSN/CKAC SPORTS/CJAD 800/CHOM 97.7).
