Miss Alouette : Sara
Sara will be in her ninth season as a Montreal Alouettes cheerleader this year, making the 25-year-old one of the most senior girls on the team.
“I like working with the girls. At first, I had some problems being surrounded by and hanging out only with girls. I was able to overcome that, however, and I discovered new characters and different personalities in our group. This is my second family.”
A CEGEP du Vieux Montreal architecture graduate, Sara currently works as a technician for
Béïque, Legault and Thuot Architects a well-known Montreal firm established more than 30 years ago.
“Drawing has always been a passion of mine and I have known for a long time that I would go into architecture. My job consist of drawing construction details, plans, elevations; technical stuff the architects need taken care of while they work on their plans,” she explained.
To relax, Sara and Alouette teammate Elizabeth do “hot yoga” in their spare time. “She was going and I thought it would be a perfect time to try something new. I went with her once and now we do it two-to-three days a week. It has been a great experience so far.”
Bikram Yoga, named for its creator, is practiced in a room heated around to 42 degrees Celsius. This type of yoga is tough, but helps relax the mind and purify the body, she explained. The hot temperature relaxes the muscles and eliminates toxins. “It purifies your core and strengthens your breathing. I feel great after every session.”
